AcuWellness is a gentle, ear-based (a.k.a. auricular) acupuncture, and acupressure treatment designed to calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and improve focus. It’s offered in a group setting and includes a meditative experience.
Anyone experiencing stress, anxiety, difficulty focusing (including ADHD symptoms), sleep issues, or emotional imbalance can benefit. It’s also helpful for those navigating life transitions or healing from trauma.
Each 1-hour session includes a brief check-in followed by a calming group treatment using either tiny needles, magnets, or seeds placed on specific points on the ear. You’ll relax in a peaceful environment while the treatment takes effect.
Not at all. The treatments are very gentle. If you’re uncomfortable with needles, acupressure options using magnets or seeds are available.
Yes, Children and adolescents can receive ear-based acupuncture. The protocol itself does not have an age minimum, but written parental consent is required. If there’s anxiety around needles, ear seeds can be an effective alternative.
Yes, auricular acupuncture and acupressure are generally considered safe when performed by trained professionals. A comprehensive review published in Pain Medicine (2020) examined multiple studies and case reports and concluded that in-session auricular therapy—especially using acupressure methods like seeds or magnets—is low-risk and well-tolerated.
Yes. Multiple randomized controlled trials have shown that auricular acupuncture and acupressure can significantly reduce symptoms of stress and anxiety. For example, a study published in Frontiers in Psychiatry found that auricular acupressure significantly reduced anxiety and depression scores in isolated COVID-19 patients compared to a control group.
Yes. A scoping review and several clinical trials such as one published in Complementary Therapies in Medicine have shown that auriculotherapy can alleviate sleep disturbances and fatigue, particularly in cancer patients undergoing treatment. Improvements were noted in sleep quality, anxiety levels, and overall well-being.
The outer ear is richly innervated by the vagus nerve, which plays a key role in regulating the parasympathetic nervous system. Stimulating specific ear points can activate brain regions involved in stress and emotional regulation, promoting a calming effect (JAMA Network).
Yes. Auricular acupuncture has shown promise in improving symptoms of both depression and insomnia. For example, a study published in the journal Explore found that breast cancer survivors who received auricular acupuncture experienced significantly better sleep quality and reduced stress and fatigue compared to those who received psychoeducation alone. These findings support the use of ear-based treatments as a complementary approach to emotional and sleep-related challenges.
